"KARURA TRIO" is formed in 2017 as an instrumental band pursuing a completely new style, which is the fusion of Japanese musical instruments “shino-bue (bamboo flute)” and “taiko drums”, and western musical instrument “piano”.
At the Shino-bue Contest 2017, the trio received the “Judge Special Award” from Mr. Motofumi Yamaguchi, an honorary member of the beating group ”KODO”. The trio appeared in Japanese bamboo flute festival "Shino-bue Festa 2017" and favorably received.
The first album "KARURA TRIO" was released in December 2018.
In the same year, they won "Grand Prix" and "Asakusa Jazz Award" in double at the "Asakusa Jazz Contest", which is one of the most authoritative Jazz Contest in Japan.
They released the second album "Promise with the Dragon" in June 2020.
Their style is characterized by improvisational performance cultivated in jazz, and their original tunes are based on the Japanese climate. This homage band to Japan transcends musical genres by three members who are active in various fields.
The shino-bue trio “KARURA TRIO” respects Japanese traditional performing arts and spins Japanes sense of beauty "smart, fragile, and solemn" into sound.
